This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation behind the scenes. This equation is widely preferred by health and wellness professionals. It determines your resting metabolic rate (how many calories you burn just existing – breathing, blinking, heart pumping and digesting while otherwise at rest) and then adds additional calories to accommodate your normal fitness activity. We really like this equation because takes into account key metrics such as age, weight, height and activity level – all of which can heavily impact how many calories you need daily to meet your health and fitness goals.
