There’s nothing worse than waking up drenched in night sweats, ready to rage against the injustice of menopause, and then just when you cool off and start to fall back asleep again, your husband starts snoring like a freight train. Allegedly. I can’t help you much with the snoring husband issue, but I can help you with cooling pjs that lessen the effects of night sweats.
I’ve always been a hot sleeper, and not being able to sleep because I’m hot literally makes me psychotic. Even as a little kid, I would get so angry and panicky when I would wake up because I was roasting. I remember my parents installing a window air condition just in my bedroom so I could sleep. That was before we had central HVAC installed (dear gods that makes me sound really old).
If my family wouldn’t revolt, I’d sleep with the AC on 65 year round. I keep telling them that they have the option of putting on more clothes and blankets if they’re cold, but I only have so many options to cool off when I’m roasting. I’ve got no problem sleeping in the buff, but we often have a house full of teenagers or college kids hanging out so I eventually reached a point where it seemed PJs would be a wise move. For a while I was fine in one of my husband’s old t-shirts, but when hormonal changes started rolling in, the whole hot-sleeper thing reached unbearable levels. I recently switched over to satin / silk pjs, and it’s been a game changer. I still wake up hot, but not nearly as drenched as sleeping in pjs made of other material. I’ve put together a list of my faves, plus a few that have come highly recommended by friends. The best part is that none of these break the bank! (Links below pic)

1. Satin Cami Top and Shorts Set $23. I have multiple sets of these in different colors and I LOVE them.Satin Cami Top and Matching Shorts by Cheibear
2. Jersey-Soft Button Down PJ Set $35. Made from breathable, almost silky feel viscose and a little bit of spandex, these are super soft and a little stretchy – good if you’re sleep like you’re wrestling a wild boar. Jersey-Soft Button Down PJ Set
3. Slip-Dress Chemise in Midi Length $33. Made from breathable bamboo, this relaxed fit chemise is luxuriously soft and comfortable. Slip-Dress Chemise in Midi Length
4. Leopard Print Satin, Button-Down PJ Set $37. If they’re going to call us cougars, we might as well dress like a wild predator. I adore this leopard print set. I have this in Navy/White and Champagne/Black, and now I think I’ll order the leopard print too! Leopard Print, Silk PJ Button Down Top and Shorts Set
5. Satin Cami-Strap Nightgown $23. Of all seven choices, this one is my favorite. I have it in black and dark green. In addition to wearing them to sleep, I also throw them on after I get out of the shower. There’s nothing worse than a sweaty nose and a trail of boob sweat when you’re trying to get ready for work or an evening out. I ditched my robe (the sleeves were too hot) in favor of wearing this. 6. Floral Satin PJ Short Set w/Cami-Style Top $25. Isn’t this the cutest? There are a few colors and floral styles but I like purple the best. Floral Satin PJ Short Set w/Cami-Style Top
7. Pink w/White Pinstripe 3-Piece PJ Set $25. This 3-piece set comes with a satin eye mask – so handy! I love the pinstripe look. The bubblegum pink is girly-girl but the pinstripes add a classic vibe. I have these too, I just couldn’t resist. Pink w/White Pinstripe 3-Piece PJ Set (incl. sleep mask)
There are so many color combinations and styles to suit any taste. I trust I’ve set you up for a cooler night’s sleep. Wishing you all a breezy, relaxing snooze……
Cheers, lovelies!
